ABOUT ME
My name is Corina Mota, which is pronounced Motza. I was born in Romania and immigrated to the US when I was 8 years old. I don't remember how I went from speaking NO English to fully conversing, reading, and writing. I believe that I had teachers who encouraged and demanded the best of me, as well as, my parents who reminded us frequently why we came to America and why they decided to begin their life all over again, in a new country, speaking no English in their late 30s. It was for us, their kids!
I began my teaching career and family quite young. This is my 21st year in education and have held various positions. My son is a senior in high school and my daughter is an 8th grader. We moved to the Charlotte area from Southern California 11 years ago and have grown to love the East Coast. We love games that can get quite competitive, and there are always great discussions around food, which means we love to eat! On the other hand, we all have our unique interests, one more diverse than the other. For example, I like to read, bake, shop, travel, and get outdoors. I have also been involved with Piedmont's Science Olympiad team for the past 6 years and am currently in my second year as their Head Coach. Whereas my husband, loves to watch movies and documentaries, read the news from all over the world, and talk with his buddies that live in various parts of the world. My son loves sports but more than anything, sports statistics and journalism. He has a YouTube Chanel called TheGiveAndGo which features soccer, football, and basketball. My daughter loves dance, gymnastics, and of course, hanging out with her friends. However, they're both Science Olympiad National medal winners. Over these past 21 years I've realized that life is short and you have to make everyday count! This is my first year at Hough High School and I am excited to be working with you as you are learning English. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. |
